How To Have a Stress Free Photo Shoot With Older Babies

Let’s be real, for some mamas, the thought of having a photo shoot with older babies is stressful.

As a mom of six myself, I totally get it. That time with older babies growing into toddlers can be trying as they are learning how to communicate and you are desperately wishing they could just tell you what they want or need.

As a mom of six and family photographer, I consider myself uniquely qualified on how to help families have a stress free photo shoot with older babies.

Below are a few of my best tips for a stress free session

1. Get outside! The beach is a great place for family portraits for all ages. Between the soothing water sounds and endless assortment of objects to find and keep occupied with, most little ones love being outside and that translates beautifully for photos.
2. Play with them. Tickles, flying, dancing, whatever your kids love, do it. Some of your sweetest moments are documented during authentic moments.
3. When all else fails, keep a smile on the whole time. Sometimes meltdowns happen, but when that happens, I always encourage parents to keep a smile on their face. I can snap a photo quickly, so we want parents on the ready when the little ones are ready, too.

We can’t always guarantee smiles, but that’s real life and you will never regret taking the time to have photos taken with your babies.
