Senior year of high school marks a lot of milestones for the average teenager. It’s often their last year at home with their parents. Their last year with the friends they’ve grown up with. It’s the year they become a legal adult. They have grown leaps and bounds over the last 16+ years. Taking senior portraits is the perfect way to commemorate all that they’ve done so far in their life, and a way to celebrate all the things the future has in store.
As an added bonus, senior portraits are good for more than just looking pretty in a nice picture frame. They’re a great way to customize graduation announcements. Creating a customized graduation announcement that uses a photo of the your special senior is a great way to show family, friends, and everyone else what an amazing person they’ve grown into.
Graduating from high school is a proud moment not only for parents but for the entire family. This is an important milestone that will never come again! Senior portraits commemorate this special time in your lives and will be cherished for years to come. As your senior grows and moves on in life, these photos stop time. They capture this meaningful moment in time and are a great way to reflect on their childhood journey.
From yearbook photos to the portraits hung on your wall, senior photos are a special keepsake and best done by a professional who can really help make them shine!
My clients aren’t treated as just another number. I think it’s important to get to know each and every one of the seniors I photograph. I love learning about their different hobbies, interests and what makes them unique. This helps me tailor each session to represent their personality and accomplishments. You only get to do your senior portrait session once in your life and I want to help make it a memorable experience. I want all of my clients to look back at their images and be proud.
After 10+ years as a San Diego senior photographer, not including the years of photography classes I completed in college, I’m able to utilize things like lighting and posing to help make your photos stand out. Posing definitely doesn’t come easy to most people and the average person admits they don’t feel super comfortable being in front of the camera. I walk all of my clients through the whole session, gently guiding posing and also leading them into poses that feel natural for them.
Location can also be an important part of the overall feel of the photos. Whether my clients dream of amazing beach sunsets, a trendy urban feel or possibly a mix of both, I have plenty of location suggestions to help accomplish your vision for your senior photographs.
Planning outfits for senior portraits can be a lot of fun, but also stressful for some. Gone are the days where you have to sit in a studio doing an awkward head tilt, wearing a tuxedo top or black drape and pearls. Anyone remember those shots from the 90’s? I want my clients to show what makes them unique and clothes play a big part of that. Maybe its a gorgeous flowy sundress you feel amazing in, some jeans and your letter jacket or a brand new outfit. Wear something that makes you feel awesome. If the decision is a hard one, I offer all of my clients styling assistance and even work closely with a professional styling company that tailors outfits based on the look and feel my clients are hoping to attain. The goal is to allow your personality to shine through!
Senior portraits are more than just your everyday photos. Think about it. When is the next time after senior photos you are the main focus of a photo session? That might be the wedding day for most! I also specialize in family photography, so while I always get photos of each child in the family to highlight them at the time, this session is purely about the senior. Seeing these timeless photos on your wall will remind you of the amazing adult you have now raised for years to come. Sharing on social media is also part of the fun as well. We all know how “likes” are important and having amazing photos to share from your session is a great perk. Don’t forget to ask me about my Senior Rep program as well!
As a San Diego senior photographer, I’m not here just to take your photos and be done. I was this to be a memorable experience for you from start to finish. Anyone can grab a camera and push a button, but making it a fun experience and delivering top notch customer service and beautiful art takes lots of experience. My clients always have a blast during their sessions and you can see that shine through in their photos. This isn’t a stuffy “sit there and say cheese” session I promise.
Make this a fun day. Pamper your senior for the day with a trip to the salon or maybe even a special dinner out after the session. Revel in their amazingness and soak in the child you have raised to this point. You’ve made it!
